Pretty much, a houseboat experience is something like this: you get up in the morning, have breakfast, lay around waiting for breakfast to digest (they bring coffee to help with this), have lunch, lay around waiting for lunch to digest (in between, you get tea or coffee and biscuits to help you with that), watch the sunset, have dinner, and go to sleep.
Thank god for the new 4GB memory card that Axle bought for me to accompany the new camera.... Gave me a good chance to take lots more photos of the sunset than was necessary....
I had some homework to do, so my lying around included my laptop. But I must say, it’s not a bad classroom at all.
This was our "home" (and my classroom) for a few nights.
Instead of being total slugs, we did try to do some cultural things. We made one stop to check out a famous church (well, the chef also needed to buy some food to cook) and then we decided to each get an Ayurvedic massage (except Axle, of course). The massage was pretty good—very oily. It was definitely one of the better massages I’ve had—but I still don’t think it quite compares with my massage experience in China where a three hour massage treatment cost some $12. Still, the massage experience rounds out the whole “living in luxury” experience.
With each new camera, I sort of have to re-train myself to better center arms-length photos. This was one of the better centered ones of Axle and I, but I sort of missed the scenery.... Oh well....
The food on the houseboat is amazing. I imagine that the chef pretty much spends all of his time preparing the next meal for us. The pattern seems to be fish for lunch (oh well…), chicken for dinner, and lots of little vegetable dishes to fill up on—if you really needed to fill up on anything after what they had already given you….

Needless to say, I took lots of photos. The main gallery is here, but I’ve also helped sort some of the pictures into other categories like sunsets, twilight, reflections (in the water, that is), relaxing, food, our houseboat, and other boats—so check it out…
